NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Coker College men's basketball team dropped a midweek South Atlantic Conference road contest to the Newberry College Wolves by a score of 113-68.
The Cobras opened the matchup on a 8-2 run, thanks in large part to back-to-back threes by Nathan Lemke. Newberry responded with an 11-0 run to take a 13-8 lead at the under 16-minute media timeout. Coker closed the deficit to one point at the 14:09 mark, however, it would be Newberry stringing together another run, this time a 15-3 run to take a 28-15 lead with eight minutes left. The Wolves continued to pull away, taking a 54-25 lead with them into the locker rooms at half.
Newberry held the lead the remainder of the second half to pick up the 113-68 South Atlantic Conference win.
Jake Barrett led the way with 19 points and six rebounds. Barrett finished the game shooting 8 of 11 from the floor.
The Cobras will return home on Saturday (Jan. 14) to take on the visiting Carson-Newman University Eagles. Opening tip is set for 4 p.m.
