Greenville, Tenn: The Cobras opened conference play on the road today as they took on the Pioneers in Greenville, Tennessee. Isayah Owens led the scoring for the Cobras with 25 points, but a late buzzer-beater by the Pioneers ended the game 70-68 in favour of Tusculum.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Cobras and Isayah Owens came out hot, jumping out to a 14-8 lead 5 minutes into the game. Isayah Owens led the Cobras with 8 points, 1 steal, and 2 assists.
  • The Pioneers were able to claw their way back into the game throughout the rest of the half. Going into the halftime break, the Cobras lead 32-30.
  • Much like in the first half, the Cobras came out lethal in the 2nd. Jumping out to a 5-point lead via a Zundra Jackson 3 assisted by Isayah Owens.
  • Coming off the first media timeout of the half, Predrag Ponisic and Aaron Hall made back-to-back baskets to give the Cobras the biggest lead of the affair at 7 (46-39)
  • The Pioneers once again fought their way back into the game, tying the game up with 10:21 left to play.
  • The next 3 minutes of the game saw complete domination from the Cobras, with Isayah Owens scoring another 8 points and Aaron Hall slamming in a dunk to bring the Cobras' lead back up to 7 (56-49).
  • The rest of the game saw a battle between the two teams, trading shot for shot, but with 49 seconds left, the Pioneers tied up the game and went on to win it with 1 second left on the clock, 70-68.
