Kiawah Island, SC- “Solid, consistent play”, that’s what Coker golf coach John Handrigan said made the difference as to Cobras took second place at the Kiawah Island Invitational. Coker shot a 594 as a team for the tournament, just three shots behind the number one team in the country USC-Aiken.

The Cobras were led by senior Vincent Dumouchel/Candiac, Quebec, and freshman Keith Wallace/Manning, SC, who both tied for sixth place after shooting a combined 147 for the tournament. Wallace had a low score for the Cobras on day two shooting a two under par 70. Rounding out the field for Coker were juniors Johary Raveloarison/Antananarivo, Madagascar, coming in tied for 14th with a 150 two day total, and Blaine Rogers/Simpsonville, SC, finishing tied for 20th with a 153. Senior Gary Morgan/Dublin, Ireland, finished tied for 26th shooting a two day 154.

Coach Handrigan is very pleased with his team and their performance this weekend, as they defeated nationally ranked Armstrong Atlantic (#2) and Georgia College and State (#19). The Cobras also defeated CVAC rival Pfeiffer University, who beat Coker in the conference tournament and NCAA Regionals last year.

The Cobras will hit the links again on September 25-27 as Coker College hosts the Coker College Invitational at Orange Country National in Orlando, FL.
