Cobras Erupt for 18 Goals in Win over Emmanuel
Senior midfielder Elijah Utz recorded the sixth hat trick of his career and second of the season and finished with four goals. Freshman midfielder Gavin Bourne notched his first career hat trick with a three-goal performance.
HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker men's lacrosse team erupted for 18 goals Thursday night to defeat visiting Emmanuel (Ga.), 18-8, at the Coker Athletic Field.
Senior midfielder Elijah Utz recorded the sixth hat trick of his career and second of the season and finished with four goals. Freshman midfielder Gavin Bourne notched his first career hat trick with a three-goal performance.
Sophomore faceoff specialist Brandon Calidonio dominated in the circle and won 20 of his 23 faceoffs while he collected 14 ground balls.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Emmanuel struck first with a pair of quick goals before Cooper Wert answered with the first goal of his career and later assisted on Coker's second score to tie the game. Including those first two goals, the Cobras erupted for eight consecutive goals, with eight different players finding the back of the net.
Gavin Bourne tallied his second and third goals of the contest in the second quarter, pushing Coker's lead to 12-4 at halftime.
Carson Coker opened the scoring in the second half, while Ryan Forehand and Zyaire Marshall each netted their second goals of the game to give the Cobras a 15-6 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.
Elijah Utz added a pair of fourth-quarter goals, and Anthony Hermenau recorded his first career score to cap the Cobras' offensive outburst.
