FLORENCE, S.C. – The Coker College men's soccer team dropped a non-conference match to the Francis Marion Patriots 1-0 on Wednesday (Oct. 10).
Neither team scored in a first half dominated by the defenses, as well as rainy, slippery conditions. The Cobras didn't get a shot on a goal in the half, and Zach Watson kept a clean sheet with four saves. The game remained scoreless until the 83rd minute when Francis Marion scored on an own goal to take a 1-0 advantage, which ultimately proved to be the winner.
Christian Provenzano led the Cobras with three shots, including one on goal. Jacob Simons recorded two shots, and Robbie Jenkinson accounted for one also. In goal, Zach Watson recorded five saves, allowing just the one goal.
Coker will be back in action on Saturday (Oct. 13) when they travel to Salisbury, N.C. to face the Catawba Indians in a South Atlantic Conference contest. Game time is slated for 5:00 p.m.
