Cobras dominate at the Coker Invitational
FLORENCE, SC: The Cobras spent their weekend competing in the Coker Invitational in Florence, SC. The boys had a dominant weekend with Coker winning a total of 5 flights between both Singles and Doubles.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Marcio Silva: Marcio was a force to be reckoned with in the Men's Flight A Singles. He won his first game 6-1, 6-2 over Newberry. In his second match, he won 6-4, 6-0 over Anderson. Then, finally, he went up against his teammate Lucas Melone in the final, where Marcio took the win 6-3, 7-6(7-4).
- Lucas Melone: Lucas went 2-1 on the weekend. He won his first 6-3, 7-5 in a dominant match against FMU. Going into his second match, Lucas played his opponent close with a final score of 7-6, 6-4, coming out with a big win. Then in the final, Lucas went up against his teammate Marcio Silva, losing 6-3, 7-6.
- Edoardo Pilia: Edoardo took 5th place in Flight B of the men's singles. After losing his opening match, he bounced back to win his second match after his opponent retired halfway through the first set. Then in the 5th-place match, he won a close contest with a score of 6-7(7-5), 6-2, 10-3 in a remarkable comeback.
- Marko Pozonec: Marko took 7th place in Flight B of Singles. After losing his first two matches, he found himself in the 7th-place match, where he won by forfeit. Despite losing his two games, both were close all the way to the finish.
- Sharif Vossen: Sharif took 1st place in Flight C of Singles. He won his first match in a 3-setter with a dominant win in the 3rd set tie-breaker of 10-2. His second match came with less drama, with a 6-4, 6-4 over Anderson to put himself into the final. Sharif took the win in the final after his teammate Andy Huynh retired during the second set.
- Andy Huynh: Andy took 2nd place in Flight C Singles and 1st place in Flight A Doubles. In doubles, Huynh and Joao Casas were a force as they won their games 6-2 and 6-4 to bring home the Flight A Doubles Championship. In Singles, Andy won his first game 6-2, 6-7(7-3), 10-3 for a fantastic comeback against his FMU counterpart. In the final, Andy dropped the first set and retired shortly after to end his weekend.
- Joao Casas Morerira: He took 2nd place in singles and 1st place in doubles. In singles, Joao won his first match 6-2, 7-6(7-2), beating Anderson. In his second match, he was dominant with a 6-3, 6-2 win over FMU. In Doubles, Casas and his partner Huynh were Flight A Champions after a 6-2 win in round one and a 6-4 win in the final.
- Joao Pugliese: He took 4th place in Singles Flight D and 1st place in Doubles Flight C. In Singles, Joao won his first match against Anderson with a final score of 4-6, 6-2, 10-4. In the 3rd place match, Joao kept it close despite losing in a ten-point tie break after going 2-6, 6-2, 5-10. In Doubles, Joao won his first match 6-3 and his second match 6-4.
- Noah De Groot: He took 3rd place in the Flight B Doubles.
- Gijs Van Asdonck: He took 1st Flight C Doubles. He won his first doubles match 6-3 and the championship 6-4.
- Vincent Schlicher and Miguel Moyano: They won Flight D of Doubles with a 6-2 in the first round and a forfeit in the championship.

They will be competing at the ITA Fall Regionals in Sumter, SC. This will take place on September 26th, starting at 8:00 AM
