STILES BREAKS RECORDS AT LIBERTY KICKOFF
Lynchburg, VA—The Cobras Finished day two of their Season Opener at the Liberty Kickoff, with a few Cobras making the most of their meets. The Men's 60m dash saw three Cobras qualify for the final race. Great results were also found in the 400m dash and 200m dash.
60m Dash Prelims and Final
The first big event for the Cobras of the day was the 60m Dash. The 60m dash found 3 Cobras finding themselves in the Final. Kamari Hudson, the freshman from Seneca, SC, finished the Prelims in the 8th and final qualifying spot in his first meet with the Cobras' finishing with a prelim time of 6.95. The next Cobra over the line was Jeffrey Stiles who finished with a time of 9.64 and placed 7th. Then the Cobra leading the way in the 60m prelims was Junior, Donovan Jones who finished the prelims with a final time of 6.86 to place 4th.
Moving onto the results of the final saw Jones being the first Cobra over the finish line with a final time of 6.83 placing Jones in 5th to finish the event. Stiles followed Jones in as he finished with a final time of 6.92 and in 6th place. Then finally, Karami Hudson ended the event placing 8th in the finals with a final time of 6.96.
400m Dash
In the 400m dash, Donovan Jones again found himself high on the finishers list. Out of a field of 19 runners, Jones finished in 7th place with a final time of 50.01. Some of the teams that can be found in the field with Jones are runners from Virginia University and Duke University.
200m Dash
The 200-meter dash is where the Cobras found their highest finish of the meet. Jeffrey Stiles started his season strong. Some of the schools in the field with Stiles were Virginia, Duke, SC State, and High Point. However, most of these schools had nothing on the Cobra's stand-out runner of the event Stiles. Stiles finished the 200m Dash on the podium as he placed 2nd in the 16-man race. Stiles ran a final time of 21.56 which is a new school record as he bested Tony McElveen's time of 21.83 which was set in 2020.
