HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker men's volleyball team will clash with the Battlers of Alderson Broaddus on Saturday (Mar. 17) in their first of two regular-season meetings. The Cobras (9-7) are on a three-match win streak.
Joao Victor Santos continues to pace the Coker offense with his 216 kills on a .308 hitting percentage, followed closely by Stephen Porras (179) and Gabriel Castro (167). Porras is coming off of a career-high 20 kills in the match against Bluefield on Tuesday (Mar. 13). Aleksa Bijelic has offered up 551 assists through the team's 16 matches, at a rate of 9.05 per set. Two Cobras have eclipsed 30 services aces this season: Santos (31) and Porras (30). Castro (24)and Parker Oldham (21) have reached 20's in the same category. Gary Baker and Bijelic have surpassed the century mark in digs with 147 and 112, respectively. Santos leads the team defensively as well, collecting 45 total blocks (11 solo and 34 assists), while Oldham is closing in with 32 total (10 solo and 22 assists).
The Battlers are headed up by Francisco Cabrera and his 170 kills, as he is the lone player in the triple-digits. Chase Christiansen has the team-high 38 total blocks (12 solo and 26 assists).
The Navy and Gold's match against Alderson Broaddus is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday (Mar. 17).
