ROCK HILL, S.C.- Coker softball's right-handed pitcher Christine Carver was named South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Pitcher of the Week for April 16-22, as announced by the league on Tuesday, April 24. This is the third such award for Carver in the 2017-18 season.
Carver, a sophomore from Waxhaw, N.C., had an outstanding week in the circle for the Cobras, as she posted a 2-0 record with two complete games. For the week, she threw 18 and two-thirds innings, allowing just two runs on nine hits with 11 strikeouts. She finished the week with a 0.89 earned run average.
On the season, Carver (16-6, 1.86 ERA) has pitched in 139 innings with 108 strikeouts for 5.44 per game, while batters average .196 against the right-hander. Through 13 complete games and four shutouts, Carver has added a save to her career numbers.
The sophomore is the daughter of Lisa and Mike Carver and majors in political science.
