Bio

Toyinda Smith joined the Coker staff as the assistant men's and women's track and field coach in August of 2015.

Smith joined the Coker staff as a volunteer assistant coach after a very successful career at Purdue University. She was the NCAA Division I Women’s Indoor National Champion in the 20-pound weight throw in 1999. She was also two-time All-American and a five-time Big Ten champion for the Boilermakers. She was inducted into the Purdue Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012.

A native of Gary, Ind., Smith holds a Bachelors of Arts in psychology and sociology and an Associates of Science in Organizational Leadership and Supervision from Purdue, as well as a Masters in Student Affairs and Higher Education from Indiana State.    

In addition to her coaching duties, Smith is also an adjunct professor of communications in Coker’s Adult Degree Program.
