Hot shooting and a stifling defensive effort powered the 21st-ranked Coker University women’s basketball team to a decisive 75-43 victory over Wingate University on Wednesday evening, closing out the home portion of the regular season inside the DeLoach Center.
HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Hot shooting and a stifling defensive effort powered the 21st-ranked Coker University women's basketball team to a decisive 75-43 victory over Wingate University on Wednesday evening, closing out the home portion of the regular season inside the DeLoach Center.
The Cobras were efficient on the offensive end, shooting 53.7 percent from the field and burying 10 three-pointers. Defensively, Coker forced 18 turnovers that led to 19 points and held the Bulldogs to just 28 percent shooting, never allowing Wingate to find a consistent rhythm.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The opening quarter featured one lead change and two ties before Coker University closed the period on a surge to take a 19-8 advantage.
In the second quarter, Ja'Kea Brunson caught fire from beyond the arc, knocking down three consecutive three-pointers to stretch the lead. The Cobras maintained control the rest of the half and carried a 34-22 edge into the break.
Coker put the game out of reach in the third quarter, outscoring Wingate 19-9 to create separation. The lead swelled to as many as 40 points in the fourth quarter as the Cobras cruised to the 74-43 victory.
