WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Coker women's track and field team opened the 2026 indoor season Saturday at the Mondo College Invitational at JDL Fast Track, highlighted by a record-breaking performance from Amelia Artz.
Artz delivered a standout run in the mile, shattering her own school indoor record with a time of 5:13.31, continuing to reset the standard for the Cobras in the distance events.
Coker also saw strong performances across the track, led by Jimena Sierra, who placed eighth overall in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.26, and Alejandra Alonso, who finished 18th overall in the 800 meters in 2:32.64. The women's 4x400 relay team of Sydney Watson, Patience Lisbon, Alejandra Alonso, and Jimena Sierra added another highlight by placing sixth overall to close out the meet.
The Cobras competed across sprints, distance races, relays, and field events, using the meet as an early-season test against a deep collegiate field.
