Jones Promoted to Assistant Coach

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker University Head Volleyball Coach Stephanie Dragan has announced the promotion of Berit Jones to full-time assistant coach for the Cobra volleyball program. The position was made possible through the NCAA Division II Coaching Enhancement Grant, an initiative designed to increase women and ethnic minorities in coaching while enhancing the student-athlete experience.

Jones earned the full-time role after serving as a graduate assistant during the 2025 season, helping guide the Cobras to an 11-17 overall record and a 7-11 mark in South Atlantic Conference play. Coker also earned a berth in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament, marking the program's first postseason appearance since 2017.

"I am thrilled that Berit has accepted the first full-time assistant coach position with Coker Volleyball," Dragan said. "Berit made a tremendous impact on our program during her time as a graduate assistant, and I am excited to see her step into this full-time role. She brings a wealth of defensive knowledge to our gym while earning the absolute respect of our student-athletes. Her strengths perfectly complement our coaching staff, and her leadership undoubtedly makes our program better as a whole."

Jones joined the Coker coaching staff following a successful collegiate playing career at Wheeling University, one of the winningest NCAA Division II volleyball programs in the country. After beginning her collegiate career at the University of Central Oklahoma in 2021, she transferred to Wheeling, where she competed for the Cardinals over the final three seasons of her career.

During her time at Wheeling, Jones appeared in 96 matches and recorded 563 career digs while helping lead the Cardinals to a 93-15 overall record. The program captured two Mountain East Conference Tournament championships, won the 2022 NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional title, and advanced to the NCAA Division II National Semifinals. Wheeling also reached the NCAA Atlantic Regional Final in 2023 and made another NCAA Tournament appearance in 2024.

A standout in the classroom, Jones earned Dean's List honors during four of her six semesters at Wheeling and was named to the Academic All-Mountain East Conference Team in both 2022 and 2023. She graduated from Wheeling in 2025 with a bachelor's degree in business administration and completed her Master of Business Administration at Coker while serving as a graduate assistant with the volleyball program.
