Lumberton, N.C.- Coker senior runner Kendyl Seawright (Manalapan, N.J.) captured the UNC-Pembroke Invitational individual championship on Saturday with a time of 24:13. Her time sets a new school record, breaking her previous record set in 2007 of 24:16 by three seconds. Along with her individual championship, Seawright led the Lady Cobras to a second place team finish behind UNC-Pembroke.

In the men’s race, the Cobra runners placed fifth behind UNC-Pembroke, St. Andrews, Methodist and Fayetteville State.

Individually for the women, behind Seawright was Ashlyn Barnwell (York, S.C.) in 10th with a time of 26:49, with Alex Ochoa (Pamplico, S.C.) finishing in 13th place with a time of 27:34. Aliese Gregory (Aiken, S.C.) was next in 17th place with a time of 29:06, with Caitlyn Driscol (Grand Island, N.Y.) and Ashley Meador (Union, S.C.) rounding out the Coker runners in 18th and 21st place with times of 29:24 and 31:03 respectively.

For the men, Quinn Wegner (Sumter, S.C.) led the way in 13th place with a time of 31:44, followed by Austin McJunkins (Walhalla, S.C.) with a 16th place finish and a time of 32:14. Brit Tomlinson (Rock Hill, S.C.) was next with a time of 33:20 in 19th place, while Sheldon Brown (Leatherhead, England) was 24th with a time of 39:20. Thad Sulek (Hilton Head, S.C.) was the final Cobra runner across the line at 39:20 in 25th place.

The Coker runners will now prepare for their next race on Saturday, September 25 at the Citadel Wil Wilson Invitational in Charleston, S.C.
