HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Racing in the first event of the 2017 season, Coker Cross Country ventured to Columbia, S.C. to participate in the Carolina Challenge. Darroneshia Lott pushed the pace for the women placing fourth overall. Two Cobras on the men's side finished in the top 20.
First-year Head Coach Tom Scott took his squad to the Sandhill REC 5K course Saturday morning (Sept. 2), to have his men finish in sixth and the women in eighth overall.
Lott, a senior, led the way for the Coker women stretching a 18:32.9 mark, which places her in the Cobras' record book with the second-fasted finish in Coker history. She does hold the All-Time record for a 5K, which was ran in 17:57. The women's team finished in eighth place out of a total of 12 teams, most being Division I.
The Coker Cobras cross country teams will next compete in the Winthrop/Adidas Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C. at 10am on Saturday, Sept. 16.
