GREENWOOD, S.C. - The Coker men's golf team captured an eighth place finish on Tuesday, after firing a team score of 294 (+6) in the final round of the Bearcat Classic hosted by Lander University. The Cobras completed the three-round tournament at the par-72, 6,800 yard Greenwood Country Club in a tie for eighth place with fellow Conference Carolinas school Queens University of Charlotte. Both teams shot 894 (+30) in the three-round tournament.
USC Aiken took home the championship, with Georgia College and State and Columbus State finishing second and third respectively.
Individually, the Cobras had three golfers finish in the top 25. Jake Murphy (Hamilton, N.J.) led the way in 15th place at +3 (216), followed by Diego Polo (Guatemala) in 18th place at +5 (221) and Jared Crane (Greenville, S.C.) in 22nd place at +6 (222). Christopher Fuga (Phoenixville, Pa.) and Josh Clay (Stark County, Ohio) rounded out the field for the Cobras with scores of +19 (235) and +20 (236) respectively.
The Cobras will be back in action on March 30-31 when they head to the Carolina Sands Invitational in White Lake, N.C.
