Cobras Eyeing Upset of No. 12 Lincoln Memorial
The Coker College men's basketball team returns home on Saturday (Jan. 23) to take on the visiting Lincoln Memorial University Railsplitters.
HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's basketball team is back at home on Saturday (Jan. 23) at 4 p.m. to take on the visiting No. 12 Lincoln Memorial University Railsplitters in South Atlantic Conference action. Live stats and broadcast can be found at www.cokercobras.com.
The last time in Hartsville, the then No. 2 Railsplitters squeaked out a narrow 62-58 victory.
Donte Samuels continues to lead the way for the Cobras, averaging 16.4 points per game on 45.5 percent shooting. Trey Marshall is averaging 11.3 points per game and two steals per game, while Aubrey Daniel and Jake Barrett are both averaging over eight points per game. Defensively, the Cobras as a unit have been stellar so far this season, allowing a conference-low 69.3 points per game.
The Railsplitters make the trip to Hartsville as the No. 12 ranked team in the most recent NABC poll. They have posted a 15-2 overall record and a perfect 11-0 in conference record. They are led by the scoring trio of Gerel Simmons, Jalen Steele and Luquon Choice. All three are averaging above 16 points per game.
Opening tip is set for 4 p.m. at Coker's DeLoach Center. Tickets are $15 for reserved seats, $5 dollars for adults, $3 dollars for students, and free for all Coker students, faculty and staff. Tomorrow's game is also Star Wars Day so fans are encouraged to come dressed in their best Star Wars attire to help cheer the Cobras on to victory. There will be special Star Wars themed contests, including a Star Wars costume contest during halftime of the men's game.
