HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the first half, the Cobras had the most opportunities to take the lead despite being outshot 6-1. Ella Wilke was finding herself in space near the goal time after time; however, she was thwarted every time.
- To start the second half, Coker took the lead only 2 minutes in after a beautiful free kick from Noor Njeim found Tilde Karlsson, who poked the ball into the back of the net to give the Cobras the lead.
- 10 minutes later, Catriona McNeil found herself in a 1v1 situation with the keeper after she received a through ball from Ella Wilke to double the Cobras' lead with a calm finish into the back of the net.
- In the 72nd minute, Carson-Newman clawed a goal back after a long-distance curling shot found the top left corner of the net.
- However, it was too little too late for the Ealges as Coker won this match 2-1 to start conference play.
WHAT'S NEXT?:
The Cobras will be on the road next as they face off against the Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial University. This game will take place on September 27 at 2:30 PM and will be streamed on the FloSports Network.
